Our History
Founded by Dr. Gena Yuvette Davis, My Serenity Sanctuary was launched on March 1, 2022, as the community sponsor for the Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s first Self-Care Summit: Seven Days of DeltaCare. Dr. Gena was her chapter’s chair of the Physical and Mental Health committee. She and her committee created programs that supported members and introduced the community to unique self-care and
wellness activities, including meditation, soundbaths, yoga, and nature walks. The chapter won many awards and accolades for the committee’s effort and commitment to physical and mental health. It was this passion for self-care and emotional wellness for Black Women that My Serenity Sanctuary was born and continues to grow into a dynamic self-care and wellness ecosystem and advocate for Black women and girls everywhere. Yes, our Self & Being matter!
Our Mission & Vision
At My Serenity Sanctuary, our mission is to cultivate a safe, nurturing, and serene environment that empowers and inspires Black women and girls on their journey to self-care, wellness, personal growth, and self-discovery. With a focus on Self & Being, we are committed to providing exceptional education programs, unique events, and transformative experiences that foster self-awareness,
self-care and emotional well-being, and the development of meaningful connections within our wonderful community. Through advocacy, compassion, support, and commitment, we aim to create a harmonious global sanctuary where everyone can feel heard, valued, and inspired to embrace their authentic selves, put their self-care FIRST, and fully realize their inherent potential.
